E-Learning is here to stay!  However, it’s challenging for both teachers and students. Here are some tips to help students make the most of this new field of education

  • Like with school, ensure you have a meal and are ready to take on a day of learning before online class.
  • Attend class on time and try not have too many distractions. Students should be in a quiet environment with no TV, desk space, should have headphones if possible and materials should be handy for class. Video should be on so that the teacher can see you. Raise your hand if you have a question using the ‘Raise Hand’ feature in Zoom or physically raising you hand.
  • You can use the chat feature in Zoom to send a message directly to your teacher if you don’t want the entire class to see.
  • Save your schoolwork a folder on your computer so that you can use it to study afterwards. Take notes in apps like One-Note or in a physical notebook, just like you are in school.

Tips for Parents

  • This is different and you may feel like your child’s education is being compromised but it doesn’t have to be. Learn your child’s style and do what you can to support them. This may involve some individual attention, or incorporating different modalities of learning. This situation will be uncomfortable but remember it won’t last forever.
  • Reward your child when you can if they successfully achieve the objectives for that day or week so that they are inspired to keep up with online learning.

We wish you all the best in your continued online studies.
